Zum gemalten Haus
Sachsenhausen can be proud of this traditional applewine tavern, which has been family owned since 1936. Its paintings in and around the building have made it a world famous place. They show typical scenes from every day life in Sachsenhausen (by Hans Schneider) and classic landscapes from the surroundings of Frankfurt and Rheinhessen (by Armin Angert).

The menu is just as traditional as the Gemalte Haus itself. As always, it offers typical Frankfurt cuisine with a focus on seasonal dishes. In addition, there is a changing daily lunch menu.

Even the applewine is traditionally kept in the restaurant’s own cellar. 95 kegs filled with 15.000 litres of Frankfurt’s national drink are stored on 1000 square meters. If the applewine does not last until the coming autumn, a secret reserve is waiting in the neighborhood.

Space is limited in the Gemahlte Haus, though the management makes a great effort to reserve tables for small groups up to 6o people. The restaurant’s chef, Andreas Rupf, is also willing to help out to find enough room for everyone.
