Zur Germania "uff de Insel"
When this street of houses was built in 19o4, it wasn’t surrounded by a single building. So, when someone said “I am uff de Insel” (on the island), everyone knew that this person was eating at the Germania.

The restaurant has been in the hands of one family for four generations, so tradition is held high in this idyll located in the vibrant part of Sachsenhausen. It includes the typical long tables and benches, the wooden walls, the Frankfurt paintings and of course the Frankfurt cuisine with all its specialties.

The Germania’s interior with its partly glass ceiling is not the only cozy place here. The restaurant’s exterior with its big sycamore tree providing the right amount of shade in the summer is also a favourite. This is the time when the Germania opens its large doors, providing an ideal amount of ventilation and making guests feel comfortable indoors even during the hot summer months.

On five days of the year, the Germania is showing itself in a completely different light. On carneval for example, this place rocks! Every year, there is a huge line in front of the restaurant’s main gate on Textorstraße. Some people wait one or two hours in front of closed doors, before someone from the inside decides to leave, allowing them to get in.

This, however, is rather unusual for the remaining 36o days of the year. On a normal day, you find very sociable people of all ages and social levels here.
