| To Ethiopians, Ambassel stands for the part of their country where milk and honey flow. For this reason, the restaurant in 2001 was named after that area. Its employees see great importance in giving you an exact idea of the Ethiopian culture and tradition. Hence, most of the Ambassels cooking ingredients such as spices, butter, coffee, tea and grain (for homemade bread) are imported from Ethiopia.
Let them show you their traditional eating habits! In Ethiopia, the Enjara bread replaces spoon and fork. It is usually divided into smaller pieces used to clasp the food and to soak up the sauces. That way you always have a bite-sized piece in your hand. Since that sort of eating habit does not allow any rush, you will soon notice that experienced guests have no left overs between their fingers - overall a very clean buisness. No need to panic, you also have the choice of using cutlery. The only question remaining is if you prefer to enjoy your meal in an Ethiopian, European height or in the newly decorated room (picture 6). The Ambassels menu includes mutton, lamb, beef and chicken as well as Ethiopian fried meals or vegetarian foods. Everything can be ordered mild or spicy. Chicken can be prepared fried or smoked. |
